April Cozine believes technology should be a bridge to educational opportunity, not a barrier. As Director of Enrollment Operations Services at BPS, she combines deep enrollment experience with technical expertise in Slate to help institutions build systems that are efficient, sustainable, and centered on the people who use them.

April began her career in finance before finding her calling in higher education, first helping families navigate financial aid and then moving into admissions operations in 2013. Over a 21-year higher education career, she has developed a rare perspective that spans financial aid, admissions, enrollment strategy, operations, and CRM architecture. Her approach pairs technical precision with empathy: she understands the work happening on the ground because she has done it herself, and she wants the teams behind the technology to have the tools and confidence to focus on students rather than fight their systems.

One of April's proudest accomplishments is founding Apply Kansas, a statewide college application initiative designed to expand access for first-generation and low-income students. What began as a pilot at a single high school grew to hundreds of schools across Kansas, secured state support, and became an established program under the Kansas Board of Regents. That experience captures much of what drives April professionally: building something practical, making it sustainable, and using it to remove barriers for students.

April is a Slate Certified Professional and holds a B.S. in Psychology from Missouri Western State University and an MPA and Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Wichita State University. Her professional service has included extensive leadership within financial aid and admissions organizations, including serving as president of KACRAO, and she has presented on enrollment operations through industry and Slate-focused programs.

A first-generation college student herself, April sees a direct connection between a well-built system and a student's ability to access opportunity. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, gardening, chasing her kids, and hiking, with a goal of reaching as many state high points as possible.
